In July I am going to Florence for four weeks with the Falmouth University ‘RealWorks’ Cultural Immersive Experience; what an incredible opportunity!
I will be studying digital photography with the Florence University of the Arts as well as spending time engaging with Florentine culture and soaking in the foundation of the European Renaissance.
All this should enhance my art practice through the cultural experience and learning new skills to expand my art practice and enable me to document my practice more effectively. First step: I bought a Sony alpha 600, mirrorless camera and have started to follow YouTube and Sony tutorials to learn some basics on how to use the camera and it’s complex settings. I’m not very technically minded, so it’s little overwhelming but a positive challenge and I’m looking forward to seeing how this impacts my practice both as an art form and in documenting my other artworks, research and ‘artist walks’.
